When is it too hot to walk your dog outside? A roasting hot pavement can be unpleasant and dangerous, causing pain and damage to their paw-pads. Pavement, asphalt, wood and other surfaces absorb heat from the sun and can stay hot for hours.
The easiest way to test if it’s too hot to walk your dog is using the 5-second trick. Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If you cannot hold it for five seconds, it’s too for Fiddo’s paws.
If you need to take your dog outside, it would be best to find somewhere shaded and grassy to protect their paws.
